How could we ever turn down the opportunity to perform as an unofficial band?! This week is the first-ever (and last-ever) performance of the audio engineers in South Bound. We are the South Band.
The day is Friday the 26th of April. The invitation and calls went out 3 weeks ago asking for participants for an Open Stage Performance at SAE Institute Melbourne. Let's preface this first by saying we are a record label, not a band. Obviously. But our good friend swij who happened to be organising this event made 'a shot in the dark', and contacted us who all performed instrumentations on his songs. To be honest, the rest is now forever written in history.
Perhaps it may be honest and even reserved to say that everyone felt their performance was very subpar. I for one certainly made a mountains worth of mistakes and wrong notes on those keys. Pitchy singing, weird drums hits, guitar tech issues, everyone would loved to have performed as well as we did during our rehearsal and sound check.
But the fact that we did this regardless is truly something amazing to have achieved. We did way more than we expected over the course of these weeks, and made so many videos, side projects, and we even played as an unofficial live band. We may not have felt the applause was appropriate for the quality of the performance, but most of it was really bearable and may I even say enjoyable. The free beer by the end was certainly a welcome prize. :)
This coming Thursday, the 2nd of May, SAE Creative Media Institute Melbourne will have a tri-annual Exhibition Night, where our album, merchandise, and some free candy will be free to explore in our own dedicated studio space!! We would love to see you all in person there for a great time, with a free BBQ and free drinks for all, non-alcoholic bevs and vegetarian options included!!! Hope to see you there at 235 Normanby Road, South Melbourne, VIC.
From everyone at the team here at South Bound, thank you so much for all of your support. Your input, your engagement, and any amount of interaction with us, has given us so much drive and strength to push this project to its maximum. We are so proud of the work was have been able to create, and now that this chapter of our lives has closed we hope to see you all around in the real world. In some form or another.
As always, inviting you down South. 🇦🇺
